The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has completed the second phase of the harbor construction project in Kelaa island of Haa Alif atoll.

On Saturday, the contractor took to Twitter revealing the progress of the project. As such, phase two of the harbor construction project was completed on Thursday.

MTCC was contracted with the project by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure on June 30, 2019.

Under the harbor construction project in Kelaa island, MTCC is tasked with channel dredging of 12,768 cubic meters as well as maintenance dredging of 3,496 cubic meters.

Further, the project includes the construction of a 30-meter breakwater, a revetment measuring 220 meters, a quay wall measuring 50 meters and a 1,445-square meter pavement.

The contractor completed the installation of navigation lights, two harbor lights and mooring buoys under the scheme.

The project, worth MVR 17.4 million, was mobilized on September 13, 2019.

MTCC was contracted to complete the project within 410 days.

The company has initiated a number of harbor development, land reclamation and several other development projects across the scatter of islands including Hoarafushi, Ihavandhoo, Hanimaadhoo as well as Nellaidhoo in Haa Alif and Haa Dhaal atolls.
