A record number of Covid-19 cases were recorded in the Maldives, on Friday.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed that 64 new infections were reported by 6pm, Friday.
The new cases include 44 Maldivians, 17 Bangladeshi nationals, two Indian nationals and one Nepali national.
This has pushed the total case count to 2,617.
11 additional recoveries from the virus were also reported on Friday, pushing the total recoveries to 2,238.
This is the highest number of cases to have been reported in the country, since the government began easing the lockdown imposed across the capital city region on May 29.
Currently, Maldives has 361 active cases, with 300 individuals in isolation facilities and 97 remaining in quarantine.
