President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has discussed the results of the lockdown ease plan, with relevant stakeholders.

The meeting was held on Thursday and focused on the gradual easing of temporary restrictive measures that were put in place throughout the country’s national response efforts against the global Covid-19 pandemic.

The meeting was held as part of the stakeholder sessions that are being held on a serial basis to facilitate authorities’ overall monitoring of the health situation in the island nation after the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) was dissolved.

The country entered the third phase of the lockdown ease plan on July 1, following the success in managing the pandemic.

The plan revolves around the government’s strategy to lead the country towards the “new normal”.

In accordance, discussions at the meeting revolved around the specifics of the new normal, increasing public awareness and health sector preparedness as well as addressing further challenges to the health response efforts.

The meeting was joined by Vice President Faisal Naseem and a number of Cabinet Ministers, along with senior officials of the President’s Office, health professionals and senior officials of the Health Emergency Operations Centre (HEOC), the Maldives Police Service and the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF).
