33 out of the 36 new cases of the Novel Coronavirus pandemic, reported on Thursday were Maldivians.
While the Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed that 36 new cases were confirmed on Thursday, they include 33 Maldivians, two Bangladeshi nationals and one Indian national.
With this development, the country’s Covid-19 case count is currently at 2,553.
47 recoveries from the virus were also reported on Thursday, this has increased the total recoveries to 2,227.
Further, the authority’s statistics reveal that 97 individuals have been quarantined while 283 remain in isolation facilities.
There are 306 active cases of the virus in the island nation, currently.
The country has seen 13 Covid-19 related deaths as of Thursday. The 11th death was reported earlier this week on Sunday, when a 77-year-old Maldivian woman passed away while being treated at the 11th floor of the Dharumavantha Hospital.
The next day, Maldives confirmed the 12th Covid-19 related death; an 80-year-old Maldivian man who was being treated for the virus at the 11th floor of Dharumavantha Hospital.
The third death of the past week was reported on Wednesday, when a 70-year-old local woman was pronounced dead on arrival at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
