If relevant authorities are able to develop a vaccination for the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19), it should be provided to all countries, in the same way it is provided to developed states, says Minister of Health Abdulla Ameen.

Participating virtually in the “Solidarity Call to Action” held in Geneva, Switzerland, the minister noted that should a treatment be found or a vaccine be developed for Covid-19, it is important to ensure developing countries such as the Maldives, to have access to the it, as other developed countries.

He highlighted that Maldives will participate in the “Solidarity Call to Action”.

Further, the minister noted that cooperation between countries is important to overcome this global pandemic, and countries must extend support to each other.

Ameen went on to shed light on the challenges being faced in providing quality healthcare services to the people.

The “Solidarity Call to Action” was joined by 34 countries and is an initiative by Costa Rica and is joint by the World Health Organization (WHO) to compile a global resource pool of health technology and call for its provision to all countries.
