Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid has extended an invitation to his Bhutanese counterpart, Dr. Tandi Dorji, to visit the Maldives “at a mutually convenient time”.
The ministers spoke on the telephone on Wednesday, where Shahid highlighted the close relationship between both nations and expressed his readiness “to reinforce cooperation to focus on important areas of collaboration including the health sector, tourism sector and climate change”.
They agreed to “continue working together on bilateral, regional and international issues of common concern to further strengthen the friendly ties”.
Minister Shahid also commended the Royal Bhutanese Government on the success achieved, and ongoing efforts of Bhutan in fighting Covid-19 pandemic.
Diplomatic relations between Maldives and Bhutan were established on 13 July 1984.
