Bangladeshi man arrested after stabbing fellow countryman
 
In another case in Kulhudhuffushi island, a Bangladeshi man was attacked and mugged by masked assailants
 
The attacker was taken into police custody
 
A fight escalated and one of the men attacked the other with a sharp object

A 30-year-old Bangladeshi man was arrested for stabbing a fellow countryman in Maldives’ capital, on Tuesday.

Police said that there was a fight between two Bangladeshi men at around 10:43pm, and that one of the men had attacked the other with a sharp object. The incident took place on Boduthakurufaanu Magu.

The victim, 40, was transferred to Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) for treatment, while the attacker was taken into police custody.

In addition, a Bangladeshi worker was attacked in Kulhudhuffushi island in Haa Dhaalu atoll at around 10:30pm on Monday, by masked assailants.

Police said that two masked men on a motorcycle had beaten the worker with a wooden plank before mugging him. There have been no arrests thus far.

The victim sustained injuries to his right arm, and his head was split open over his left eyebrow. He was taken to the Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital for treatment.

Both cases are being investigated by the respective police stations.
