Covid-19: 182 curfew violations on Tuesday
 
29 expatriates and 152 Maldivians violated the curfew order on Tuesday
 
There is a chance the curfew may be extended to a 24-hour-one if violations continue
 
Offenders will be issued a warning the first time round and repeat offenders will be fined MVR 1,000

While Tuesday marks the sixth day since the government announced a three-hour curfew in the Maldives, there were 182 violators.

Citing police, the government's Covid-19 spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Aziz said that the 182 individuals includes 152 Maldivians and 29 expatriates.

Authorities imposed the curfew starting 12pm last Thursday, and violators will be issued a warning if they are seen out on the roads, the first time round, however, repeat violators will be fined up to MVR 1,000.

While police did not reveal if any fines were imposed on Tuesday, a total of two individuals have been fined thus far.

The curfew was announced in the capital indefinitely by the Director General of Public Health, Maimoona Aboobakuru.
