A disinfection program has begun in the capital city's suburb, Villimalé.
The programme - a joint initiative between the Malé City Council and the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) - began in Villimale' on Thursday and is also ongoing on the roads of Male' City.
On Monday, roads of Male' City had been sprayed with chlorine-infused water under this programme and regions congested with trash has been cleaned while palettes lining the entrances of residences were moved.
The disinfection program began at a time the authorities revealed that close contacts of former Manchester United player Marouane Fellaini - who tested positive for Covid-19 after returning from the Maldives - was likely to have been in the Greater Malé Region.
