Uganda International Series: Maldives pair wins bronze in badminton event
 
The Maldives pair traveled to the semifinals after beating the pair from Kenya
 
Zayaan and Nabaha had also bagged gold for Maldives during the YONEX SUNRISE Pakistan International Series held during November 2019
 
The pair showed an excellent performance during the tournament

Young Maldivian athletes Hussain Zayaan Shaheed Zaki and Fathmath Nabaha have bagged bronze in the mixed doubles event of the Badminton Tournament as part of the Uganda International Series.

The pair won bronze after losing the semifinals to Indian pair Tarun Kona and Meghana Jakkampudi.

Zayaan and Nabaha showed a commendable performance throughout the tournament, having beaten the Uganda pair, Jordan Niwagaba and Caroline 21 – 3 and 21 – 5 during their first match.

The Maldives pair traveled to the semifinals after beating the pair from Kenya, 21 – 19 and 21 – 15.

Zayaan and Nabaha had also won gold for Maldives during the YONEX SUNRISE Pakistan International Series held during November 2019.

It was the first time Maldives won gold in a Badminton World Federation-sanctioned tournament.
