Further details have not been disclosed

Former Minister of Housing and Infrastructure, Vice President of opposition Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM) Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has been summoned to Maldives Police Service (MPS).

In a message to media outlets, PPM Spokesperson Heena Waleed stated that Muizzu has been summoned to present himself to the police headquarters at 8pm on Saturday.

Heena refrained from disclosing further details as to why the opposition party’s Vice President is being summoned to police, headquartered in Shaheed Hussain Adam building.

RaajjeMV was unable to attain a comment from the ex-minister as he had not answered the station’s calls, at the time of publishing.

This comes at a time the authority is investigating claims against Dr. Muizzu, following the Attorney General’s office having sought an in-depth investigation into the case of the state’s dispute with Noomadi Resorts and Residences.

Muizzu was the housing minister when the Noomadi agreement was terminated during ex-President Abdulla Yameen's regime citing “contractual violations”. Noomadi was contracted to develop housing units on several islands.

He was also summoned to the People’s Majlis public accounts' committee regarding a statement he gave, and he is accused of having provided false information during questioning.
