President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has extended greetings on neighbouring India’s 71st Republic Day.

The president extended his greetings on the occasion of India’s 71st Republic Day to President Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Indian citizens via Twitter on Sunday.

The national holiday of the neighbouring country also celebrates 70 years since the country's constitution came into effect.

The Solih's administration has been working to strengthen ties with India, having extended appreciation to the Indian Government for their ongoing efforts and assistance in the Maldives while giving assurance of the regime's commitment to building further cooperation between the two countries in areas of mutual benefit.
