The general weather forecasts scattered rain with isolated thunder showers in southern atolls and isolated showers in central atolls

Maldives Meteorological Service (MET Office) has revealed that swell wave surges are expected during high tide times over some islands for the next 24 hours.

The department revealed that swell wave surges are expected over some regions till 8pm on Saturday and the weather is expected to be squally over southern atolls.

Further, MET predicted the region to experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms with surface winds gusting 13 - 23 miles per hour in central atolls and 5 – 15 miles per hour over the rest of the country.

Further, the department revealed that seas are predicted to be rough during showers and generally rough throughout most of the country, going on to urge sea farers to practice caution, especially in central and northern atolls.

The general weather forecasts scattered rain with isolated thunder showers in southern atolls and isolated showers in central atolls.

This comes at a time the department also issued a while alert from Gaafu Alifu Atoll to southernmost Addu City on Saturday morning.
