Maldives' Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid, has departed on a formal visit to Sri Lanka on Wednesday evening.

During the visit, Minister Shahid will pay courtesy calls to the new Sri Lankan leadership.

He is set to visit President of Sri Lanka, Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Mahinda Rajapaksa, in addition to Sri Lankan Speaker of Parliament, Karu Jayasuriya, and Minister of Mahaweli, Agriculture Development and Internal Trade, Former Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa.

Moreover, He will also meet with the Minister of Foreign Relations of Sri Lanka, Dinesh Gunawardena to hold bilateral talks and strengthen ties between the two neighboring island nations.
