A man has been arrested with drugs in Hoarafushi of Haa Alif atoll.

According to the Maldives Police Service (MPS), a 32 year old man was caught with substances suspected to be drugs in an operation conducted by MPS intelligence and Hoarafushi police department.

The man was arrested on November 20th at the port of the island around 04:40pm that evening, under a court warrant issued after authorities received intelligence reports of drugs being transported from Kulhudhuhfushi on a launch to Hoarafushi.

Additionally, authorities revealed a capsule containing a substance suspected to be drugs was found on the 32 year old.

The man has been remanded for 15 days by Hoarafushi magistrate court and will be detained at a location determined by the ministry of Home Affairs.

Authorities are currently investigating further.
