The Government of Maldives has denounced the recent attacks by Israel on the Palestinian territory of Gaza.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday, the Maldivian government strongly condemned the attack that has lead to fatalities and injuries of several innocent Palestinian civilians.

Additionally, the statement highlights and praises the de-escalation efforts of the international community, specifically by Egypt.

The statement also reiterated the ceasefire reached between the two parties and extended sincere condolences and sympathies to the families of the victims of the attack on behalf of the Maldivian people and government.

Furthermore, it voiced concerns over the disparaging use of force by the Israeli army on unarmed civilians, especially on women and children and noted that the occupation of Palestinian territories by Israel is illegal according to international law and relevant UN Security Council and General Assembly resolutions.

The statement further emphasized the government's support for achieving long-term peace in the Middle East with the two-state solution that establishes an independent and sovereign State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The statement concluded by reiterating the support of the Maldivian government and its people to the Government of the State of Palestine and the Palestinian people.
