Maldives wins gold in badminton
 
Neela Najeeb won bronze in the women's singles category whereas the pair of Neela Najeeb and Maisa Fathuhulla Ismail won bronze in the women's doubles category as well.

The Maldivian mixed doubles team and women's doubles team has won gold medals in the Pakistan International Series 2019.

Aminath Nabeeha Abdul Razzaq and Fathimath Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq were the women's doubles pair that cleared finals against Pakistan's Mahoor Shahzad and Bushra Gayoom in the finals in two straight sets, scoring 21-17 and 21-13.

Siblings, Nabeeha and Nabaaha have previously won gold medals in the recent national badminton tournament.

Hussein Zayan Shaheed and Fathimath Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq were the mixed doubles pair that won the final match held on Sunday against Dipesh Dhami and Amita Giri of Nepal.

They took the match with a score of 21-16 and 21-19 against the top-seeded players of the tournament.

Additionally, Neela Najeeb won bronze in the women's singles category whereas the pair of Neela Najeeb and Maisa Fathuhulla Ismail won bronze in the women's doubles category as well.

This is the first badminton tournament Maldives has won gold in that endorsed by the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

Nabeeha won the first-ever gold medal for the Maldives in badminton at the Indian Ocean Island Games in July this year.

As such, the national badminton team of Maldives has been competing in many international tournaments with great successes.
