Former parliament speaker, Mohamed Shihab has been appointed as Advisor to the President.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih made the appointment on Tuesday, along with Mohamed Mahir Easa as a State Minister at the Ministry of Home Affairs.
They were presented the official letters of appointment at a ceremony held at the President’s Office.
Shihab, who served as speaker from August 2008 to May 2009, had previously served as the Minister of Home Affairs as well as the Minister of Finance and Treasury. He had also served as the Malé City Mayor, from 2014 to 2017.
Mohamed Mahir Easa previously served as the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs and the Atoll Councillor for Faadhippolhu Atoll.
