Will not hesitate to take action against reckless employees: Nahula

"A dip in quality of services is unacceptable"

Thus far, the ministry has taken action against employees with low performance only

Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Aishath Nahula has asserted that she will take action against employees who are reckless in their work, as long as she remains in position.

The minister made this assertion at the Parliament’s Committee on National Development and Heritage on Monday, upon being summoned to update the committee on the ministry’s work.

Responding to a question posed by Thulusdhoo constituency MP Ibrahim Naseer, over a leaked audio where the minister is heard talking to some employees over their carelessness at work, Nahula stated that the ministry will not hesitate to take action against those whose work hinders the ministry’s services, in the future.

As such, thus far, the ministry has only taken action against employees for showing poor performance, assured Nahula.

Nahula highlighted that civil servants are employed by the Civil Service Commission, and that the ministry will not tolerate work that hinders the quality of their services to the people.

Further, Nahula stated that she herself is a servant of the people and that she will continue to serve the people, in their work.

The minister’s assurance comes at a time reports have been spreading that the ministry has been sacking their employees, unfairly.
