This administration will not terminate employees based on political beliefs: MP

President Solihs vision is to work together with all parties during his presidency

South-Henveiru constituency MP, Hussain Shaheem, made a statement reassuring there will be no workplace discrimination based on political beliefs or affiliations during President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's presidency.

While speaking on RaajjeTV's "Fala Surukhee" programme on Saturday night, Hussain said he fully trusts the government will not terminate any employees who follow rules and regulations for their political ideologies.

However, steps will be taken against those who maliciously allow their political beliefs to influence their workplace responsibilities, and regulations may soon be put into place to safeguard against such actions, added Hussain.

Hussain also stated ex-president Abdulla Yameen's administration overstaffed many government institutions which have consequently negatively affected the state budget.

He further mentioned the aforementioned reasons could result in changes being made, however, he assured no one will be overlooked due to their political beliefs.

President Solih's vision subsists of working together despite political beliefs and that opportunity was provided to all the parties of the coalition, Hussain added.

MP Hussain stated the government will monitor whether coalition member parties neglect to vote in bills put to parliament by President Solih's administration and address the issue if it arises. Likewise, the appropriate reports will be compiled and filed, added Hussain.
