Discussions have been held with senior government officials to address the traffic issues facing capital city Malé.
Vice President Faisal Naseem met with senior officials representing a range of stake-holding institutions on Monday morning where pertinent issues regarding traffic in the congested city were discussed.
Senior representatives from Malé City Council, Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation and Maldives Police Service joined the meeting.
During the meeting at the President’s Office, VP Naseem shed light on the importance of easing traffic congestion and issues linked to it such as parking issues and limited space for pedestrians in the city.
Officials present at the meeting updated the Vice President on measures currently being taken to enhance road safety.
They went on to reiterate the major obstacles continuing to surface while fulfilling their responsibilities to the people.
Further, VP Naseem brought up the positive results of the Traffic and Road Safety Awareness Programmes that were conducted previously, stressing on the importance of carrying out more of such programmes in the near future.
